While much of this care comes from a family relative, 36.9% of children receive care from a licensed child care facility and 19.1% receive care from an unlicensed child care facility. Most children under the age of 5 receive child care from someone other than a parent. A generation ago, more than half of all children had a stay-at-home parent. 6įewer than 1 in 3 children today have a full-time, stay-at-home parent.
